Officials said on Friday that two guards associated with the institute were arrested based on video evidence. This development comes days after a group of people vandalized the Khan Institute of Global Studies and pelted its headquarters with stones earlier this week.

According to a press release issued by the City Superintendent of Police (Central), Patna, the incident occurred on the night of June 2 at around 10:10 pm. A group of individuals reportedly threw stones and vandalized the Khan Global Studies Training Center.

Institute guards fired?

“During the investigation, a video clip was found showing two people shooting from the air after an act of sabotage,” the police statement said, according to news agency ANI.

After verifying the video clip, the police were able to identify and detain two guards associated with the institute.

Based on the investigation into the sequence of events and recovery of weapons, the police named Khan Sir and two others in the FIR under the Sedition and Arms Act sections.

The police confirmed that the weapons used in the incident were seized and referred to the forensic laboratory for examination.

“Further action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the ongoing investigation,” the City SP office added.

Call to students

In view of the incident, Patna Police also issued an appeal to the student community.

“All students are requested not to be misled by anyone during the training center competitions. No compromise will be made in terms of fighting crime and maintaining law and order,” the statement stressed.

On June 3, a large crowd of students gathered outside the Khan Training Institute near Musallahpur Haat in Patna, a day after gunfire was reported outside the building, leading to heavy deployment of security forces in the area.

Large numbers of competitive exam aspirants were seen waiting outside the training center and raising protest slogans as tension rose following the incident in which a security guard was reportedly injured.

Shots were reportedly fired outside the training institute on the night of June 2, leaving a security guard injured and taken to hospital.
