Manoj Bajpayee in a still from the teaser
NEW DELHI: Rocked by allegations of anti-Brahmin bias, FIRs and court petitions, the producer of the film ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’ on Thursday filed an affidavit apprising the Supreme Court of the decision to withdraw the title of the film and not to use words that hurt the sentiments of a section of the community anywhere in Manoj Bajpayee’s film. Senior advocate Neeraj Kishan Kaul, appearing for producer Neeraj Pandey, told a bench of Justices BV Nagrathna and Ujjal Bhuiyan that due to concerns expressed over the teaser since its release on February 3, the promotional material has been withdrawn. He said that the film is a fictional police drama that revolves around a criminal investigation without portraying any class, religion, community or sect as corrupt. “I respectfully confirm that the previous title, ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’, has been unequivocally withdrawn and may not be used in any manner. While the new title has not yet been finalized, I undertake that any title that may be subsequently decided and approved will not be similar or provocative to the previous title over which objections were raised and shall accurately reflect the narrative and intent of the film without causing any unintended objections,” Pandey said in his affidavit. Explanations.
“ The court accepted the statement and ordered the proceedings to be closed.
