A Delhi court has ordered the city police to file a case against three people, including two assistant professors at Delhi University, for allegedly forging documents and cheating a woman on the pretext of providing her a teaching job at the university.

In an order passed by First Class Judicial Magistrate Gaurav Kataria of Rohini Courts on July 1, the judge said an investigation was necessary to ascertain whether there were any similar victims.

The woman claims she paid $1 lakh for publications

The FIR came on the basis of an application filed by a 28-year-old woman, a former assistant professor at DU’s Bharti College. The woman claimed that she contacted two assistant professors at DU who convinced her to leave the university. $1 thousand for publishing research articles claiming that it is a prerequisite for getting the job.

The complainant claimed that she was selected as assistant professor on November 23, 2023.

However, things took another turn when, on August 8, 2024, the college principal informed her that an RTI investigation into her published research articles had found them to be fake. She was subsequently fired from her job.
