The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday asked the Telangana State High Court to grant two weeks’ time to decide on reopening the probe into the March 14, 2019 murder of former Andhra Pradesh CM Vivekananda Reddy.

The Supreme Court, which began hearing on the petition filed by Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Dr N Sunitha Reddy last month, seeking directions to the CBI to further investigate the case, has sent the case for further hearing on April 27.
In her petition, Sunitha said that the CBI has not fully investigated many aspects of the case and many doubts remain unanswered. She stressed that some angles were not investigated adequately and some suspicious elements were overlooked.
The case is already under investigation by the CBI on the directions of the Supreme Court of India. The agency had earlier examined technical evidence, including call data records between individuals, and filed a supplementary chargesheet on March 11, stating that it could not find any additional evidence against certain individuals, who were suspected to have known about Vivekananda Reddy’s murder in advance.
However, expressing dissatisfaction with the findings, the petitioner urged the Supreme Court to set aside the earlier CBI court orders and direct a more thorough investigation into the unresolved aspects.
On March 11, the Supreme Court dismissed Sunitha’s petitions to cancel the bail granted to the accused in her father’s murder case, as the CBI confirmed that it had filed the third supplementary chargesheet and completed the investigation.
