As many as 36 senior officials appointed by the Union Education Ministry will reach states and union territories (UTs) to coordinate the NEET-UG re-examination process on June 21 and will report to the command center in Delhi headed by National Testing Agency (NTA) Director General Abhishek Singh, officials said on Thursday.

The decision was taken during a high-level review meeting chaired by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to assess the preparation for the NEET-UG re-examination. The meeting held in hybrid mode was attended by 222 participants including senior officials and staff of NTA, Education Ministry, state governments, UT administrations, nodal officers of centrally funded institutes, vice-chancellors and directors of higher education institutes across the country.
In his address to the meeting, Pradhan stressed the importance of maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency and efficiency in the examination process, and directed all concerned parties to be vigilant and fully prepared.
“Urging relevant officials to ensure that the necessary measures are taken to conduct the re-examination freely and fairly,” the ministry said in a statement.
Pradhan said that the officers appointed by the ministry will coordinate between the states and the National Traffic Safety Agency.
“There are 36 senior officials appointed by the ministry. One official will be appointed in each state and UT. They will coordinate with the state nodal officers and will report to the main command center at the NTA building in Delhi,” a senior education ministry official told HT.
Pradhan asked the appointed officials of the state governments to ensure that the students get all the necessary facilities to enable them to appear for the re-examination in a stress-free environment.
NTA DG Singh said the agency is working with all relevant stakeholders including district level coordination committees headed by directors, state police departments and intelligence agencies to ensure that the re-examination is conducted smoothly.
NEET-UG 2026 held on May 3 was canceled on May 12 following allegations of paper leakage, including alleged overlaps between the previously distributed guess paper and the actual paper. More than 2.27 million candidates have applied for the May 3 exam. .
