The proposed video of the newly commissioned army pilot has made hearts melt ever since it went viral on social media after the death parade in Maharashtra on Tuesday. However, a viral video and photos of the couple from that day also led to online debate about whether the gesture broke protocol.

The surprising proposal happened during the military parade on Tuesday at the Army Combat Aviation Training School near Nashik in Maharashtra.
The videos that went viral showed the newly commissioned pilot – Captain Bharat Bhardwaj – wearing his ceremonial military uniform, walking down the runway, getting down on his knees in front of his partner and proposing to him with a ring. This all happened with a military helicopter in the background.
In a sign of acceptance of the proposal, his partner hugged him when he got up.

While congratulatory reactions for the couple poured in on social media, some asked questions about the rules. “Is this allowed, can you film the proposals at the Defense Training School and share them publicly? I thought the Defense Forces had a very strict code of conduct but it seems the strong-minded government has managed to screw that up too!!” User X wrote in the comments below a video of the proposal.
The army takes note
Amid the mixed reactions, Hizb ut-Tahrir has learned that the military has taken note of the matter and is likely to demand an explanation from the newly commissioned pilot.
While the proposal and its social media presence violate several protocols set by the military, the gesture is unlikely to raise any major issue for the captain.
Speaking to the media after proposing marriage to his partner, Captain Bhardwaj said that he has known his partner for five years and wanted to make this day memorable.
“We all became pilots and instructors today. It was a big day for all of us. Our hard work paid off today. We both know each other for the past five years. I don’t think there is any better day than this to propose to her. This is a big day for my family as well. I wanted to make this day memorable for my fiancée as well. That was the whole idea,” Captain Bhardwaj was quoted as saying by ANI news agency.
The Army Combat Aviation Training School is the premier aviation training institution of the Indian Army and operates under the Army Training Command.
