Hyderabad, Telangana RERA Chairman N Satyanarayana has resigned, citing medical ailments arising from prolonged hearings and administrative responsibilities.

Satyanarayana said the lengthy hearings, up to five hours a day, caused severe back pain and other health problems, requiring ongoing physical therapy and medical treatment in recent weeks.
“Though it is painful, it is in the best interest of my health,” Satyanarayana told PTI on Wednesday, describing the post of Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority chief as among the most challenging and fulfilling assignments of his four-decade public service.
During his three-year tenure, the retired accounting officer observed that TG-RERA enhanced transparency, accountability, digital governance, grievance redressal and protection of homebuyers through several institutional and regulatory reforms after studying best practices adopted by RERA authorities across multiple states.
He said the authority completed registration of projects within 10 to 21 days against the statutory timeline of one month and registered 10,817 projects, along with 5,106 real estate agents, placing Telangana at number five nationally among states and union territories.
He said the authority made proposals to strengthen corporate governance, resulting in deputation of 56 officers and expansion of operations of Telangana RERA to improve governance and regulatory implementation.
Satyanarayana said the focus was on complaints pending between 2017 and 2022, with the authority holding hearings and issuing orders in those cases along with regular complaints received from 2023 onwards.
He added that out of a total of 2,764 complaints, hearings and orders have been completed in 1,764 cases so far.
He said the authority also issued guidelines on transfers of promoter rights, project extensions, definitions of ongoing projects, and facilitated the revival of stalled Jaya Platinum and Jaya Diamond projects through coordinated stakeholder engagement under the provisions of the RERA Act.
He noted that strategic partnerships have been established with Administrative Staff College of India, Nalsar Law University, Engineering Staff College of India, International Arbitration and Mediation Centre, and other institutions to promote mediation, legal research, technical evaluation and awareness programmes.
The Advertising Standards Board of India has partnered with TG-RERA to monitor digitally misleading real estate advertisements, among other initiatives, Satyanarayana added.
During his tenure, TG-RERA launched a Public Grievance and Guidance Cell to support filing of complaints, project verification, assistance with documentation, compliance guidelines and stakeholder sensitization across the real estate sector in Telangana.
The Telangana government accepted Satyanarayana’s resignation on health grounds through an official memorandum issued by the Metropolitan District and Urban Development Department on Tuesday.
