New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has created a political stir after he said the DMK “fears neither the Prime Minister nor his father”.While addressing a DMK youth wing event in Coimbatore, Udhayanidhi said: “Whenever Modi appears on TV, people get scared about what he will announce.
Modi’s announcements regarding forex demonetisation and coronavirus (lockdown) have raised concerns among people.
But if Stalin appeared on television, people would be happy with the new advertising schemes. We will never give up our rights for the welfare of Tamil Nadu. “We will not fear PM Modi, even if PM Modi’s father comes.”The remarks sparked a strong reaction from the Bharatiya Janata Party, accusing its leaders of repeatedly launching personal attacks against the prime minister and his family.BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla alleged that Udhayanidhi Stalin had previously made controversial statements against the Hindu community and is now targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late father.“The Congress has gone shirtless, naked, and characterless in the way it protested at the AI summit. In fact, it was not a protest; it was disruption. And now its ally, the DMK, has gone senseless, moralless, and devoid of ethics.”
Poonawalla said that Udhayanidhi Stalin, who made death threats to Hindus and called for genocide of Hindus, is now targeting the late prime minister’s father.“Imagine that during the Bihar elections, the All India Alliance targeted his mother and abused her. They used more than 150 abusive words, especially against his mother and father, especially since he comes from the OBC community,” he added.“They abused his family and background. They made fun of him for being a chaiwala.
They said, “Modi, tere kabar khudiji,” and threatened that he would die or be killed, using violent language like “lathi dandi.” And now Udhayanidhi Stalin, who said he wanted to exterminate Hindus and eliminate the Sanatans, for which the Supreme Court punished him severely, has delivered this hate speech. He is now insulting the Prime Minister’s late father.
This shows the journey from shirtless to sassy, from characterless to meaningless.
This is India’s directionless alliance. “They talk about the Constitution, but it is nothing more than just abuse,” Poonawalla added.Tamil Nadu will go to polls in the first half of 2026, where the MK Stalin-led alliance will look to project the ‘Dravidian Model 2.0’ to prevail over the BJP-AIADMK alliance. The entry of actor-turned-politician Vijay with his team Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is expected to turn the Tamil Nadu polls into a three-way contest.
In the 2021 elections, the DMK won 133 seats in the 2021 Assembly elections. The Congress won 18 seats, the PMK won five seats, the VCK won four seats, and others, including independents, won eight seats. The DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), which comprises the Congress, won 159 seats collectively. While the NDA won 75 seats, the AIADMK emerged as the largest party in the alliance with 66 seats.
