Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader Udhayanidhi Stalin on Thursday filed his nomination for the Assembly elections scheduled on April 23 and announced the value of the assets. $20.64 crore in his affidavit, almost three times more than his father, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin.

Accompanied by his senior Cabinet colleagues including former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran, Udhayanidhi filed his nomination from Chipauk-Thiruvivalikini Assembly constituency for the second time.

In 2021, he won by 93,285 votes.

Udayanidhi was sworn in as Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development in December 2022. He was elevated to the post of Deputy Chief Minister in September 2024.

According to the affidavit, Udhayanidhi declared the transferred assets $12.92 crores and the value of immovable assets $7.72 Crores. Besides, he built $42.92 lakh on immovable properties owned by him, the affidavit said.

Stalin, who filed his nomination papers on Monday from the Kolathur Assembly seat, announced the value of the assets $6.25 Crores.

According to the affidavit filed as of Thursday, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay is the richest candidate with assets of $603.20 Crores. Vijay is contesting in two constituencies with Perambur and the other being Tiruchirappalli (East).

Aadhav Arjuna, who is the general secretary of TVK and the party’s election campaign manager, announced the value of the assets $197.52 Crores. Arjuna is contesting from Villivakkam seat in Chennai.

Udhayanidhi’s wife, Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, who works as a director in a private company, owns… $The value of the movable property is Rs 13.25 crore, but she does not own any immovable assets, the affidavit said.

Udhayanidhi, a Loyola College alumnus, reported an income of $10.40 lakh for 2024-25 while his wife Kiruthija declared an income of Rs. $2.92 lakh crore for 2024-25.

Udhayanidhi holds cash of Rs $50,000 while his wife Kiruthiga $75,000. He owns a defender’s car, valued at $1 Crore and the value of Innova $23 lakh.

Details of the immovable property include agricultural land measuring 10.47 acres at Songuvarchathiram near Chennai. He also owns a residential property in Velachery Chennai measuring 2,400 square feet, the affidavit said.

According to his affidavit, there are 10 cases pending against him on charges of hurting religious sentiments.
