Tamil Nadu Government News Live: AIADMK faces worst crisis since Jayalalithaa

Tamil Nadu Government News Live: The agitation comes in the wake of the AIADMK’s crushing defeat in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The party contested 167 seats but managed to win only 47, which was among its weakest performance since the death of former Prime Minister Jayalalithaa in 2016.

In contrast, Vijay’s TVK surprised political observers by emerging as the largest single party with 108 seats in the 234-member assembly.

At the post-result stage, the TVK was still short of the majority mark despite support from the Congress and allies, leading to intense political negotiations across Tamil Nadu.

The defeat intensified calls within the AIADMK for a change in leadership, with several leaders and MLAs blaming the EPS for the party’s declining electoral fortunes.
