Amid ongoing protests over alleged leaks of NEET papers and recent police “brutality” against protesters in New Delhi, a group of Supreme Court lawyers on Thursday recited the Preamble to the Constitution at the Supreme Court headquarters as part of the “Save Democracy, Save the Constitution” campaign, to express their solidarity with the protesting students and demand justice.
The event was attended by senior lawyers Indira Jaisingh and S Muralidhar, along with several members of the legal fraternity. Senior lawyer Indira Jaising said the rally was only aimed at achieving justice for the students, news agency PTI reported.

“We are here to stand with the students. We are here to stand for justice. We are here to demand justice for the students. We are not here to incite against ourselves,” she said.
Gissing said that the case concerns the rights of students and that it is the duty of lawyers to stand with them and seek justice.
Former Delhi High Court judge and senior advocate S Muralidhar said the legal fraternity has come together to support students fighting for their rights.
“We stand with all the students who are protesting for their rights, and we want justice for all of them,” he said.
Lawyer Abhay Singh said the union members were united in condemning what they described as injustice and police brutality against students and would provide all possible legal support.

“We oppose all the injustice that has been done. The members of the Bar Association have come together to extend our support so that this is conveyed across the country that the Supreme Court Bar Association stands with the students. We condemn the illegality and brutality against them and will take all necessary legal steps to ensure that justice prevails. That is why we have started this with the preamble of our Constitution,” Singh said.
CJP thanks lawyers
In response to the support provided by the Supreme Court lawyers, the CJP approached X to thank them. The party said in a post: “Thank you to the Supreme Court lawyers for supporting the students.”
