Teacher and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s health deteriorated further on Wednesday as he entered the 10th day of his indefinite fast at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, where he supports the protest of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which began protesting on June 20 over alleged examination irregularities.

Doctors following his condition said that he has now lost more than seven kilograms since the start of the hunger strike.

The Cockroach Janta Party has been pressing for Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, alleging that repeated irregularities in examinations and leakage of papers have severely affected students and their families.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), or NEET-UG, for admission to medical colleges held on May 3 has been canceled due to allegations of paper leakage. A retest was performed on June 21.
The weight drops to 59.40 kg
Wangchuk now weighs 59.40 kilograms, bringing his total weight loss to more than seven kilograms since the start of the fast, according to the health bulletin issued by the doctor on the Cockroach Janta Party’s X handle on Wednesday morning.
Doctors recorded his blood pressure at 103/68 mmHg while sitting and 111/73 mmHg while lying down. His heart rate was 74 beats per minute, blood sugar level was 75 mg/dL, and oxygen saturation was 98 percent.
The Delhi High Court reinstated CJP’s X account
In a major relief to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), the Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered the group’s X account unblocked. The order was passed by Justice Suwarana Kanta Sharma, after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who represents the Centre, told the court why the account was blocked.

Mehta said the move was taken in view of the NEET re-examination as some of the posts “could have created chaos” among students and parents. He later said that now that the exam was over, the fears no longer existed.
Taking into consideration the submissions, Justice Sharma ordered restoration of X’s account and said that the “primary concern behind the ban order is no longer relevant”. The NEET re-test was conducted on June 21, weeks after the previous test was canceled after a paper leak was discovered.

“Since NEET has already ended, the main concern no longer has any importance. In the circumstances, the order is set aside. The petition is allowed,” Justice Sharma ordered.
Why was CJP’s X account blocked?
The Cockroach Janta party started as a satirical group but gained huge attention among the youth after the cancellation of the NEET exam, which sparked widespread anger among aspirants and their parents.
As the party’s social media presence grew, its X account was blocked in India in May.
According to
Following the restriction, the organization launched a new X account titled “Cockroach Is Back,” which it continues to use to share updates regarding the ongoing protest.
