Unidentified assailants fired four rounds outside the Mumbai residence of a Bollywood film director Rohit Shetty Around 12.43 pm, a request was made to beef up security in the area, police said on Sunday.

Police officials said teams are probing multiple angles to identify those involved. According to the police, the motive behind the attack is still unknown, ANI news agency reported.

An investigation is currently underway with police and forensic teams to trace the assailants and establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Video footage showing heavy police presence outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s house has surfaced on social media. The visuals show police vehicles, barricades and officers stationed outside buildings.

Shetty and his family have not yet issued any statement on the incident.

The shooting has sparked renewed concern over the safety of Bollywood personalities. Similar incidents have been reported in the past, including multiple shootings outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai, for which the Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility in several cases.

Police are investigating whether the shooting was motivated by threats or any other motive. The investigation is ongoing, and more details are awaited.
