Kanpur police arrested 26-year-old Shivam Mishra, son of a tobacconist. High speed Lamborghini crash Three people were injured. The arrest comes a day after police took disciplinary action against a local station house officer for procedural lapses.

Police said Shivam Mishra is being tested for an underlying medical condition as part of the investigation. (HT Photo)The accident took place near the ring wall intersection on Sunday when a Lamborghini Revuelto belonging to tobacco exporter KK Mishra’s firm allegedly lost control at high speed.

According to Police and eyewitness accountsthe vehicle rammed an autorickshaw and a stationary motorcycle before landing on the pavement and hitting pedestrians.

Autorickshaw driver Tausif Ahmed and two motorcyclists named Vishal and Sonu Tripathi were injured in the accident.

Based on Ahmed’s complaint, an FIR was initially registered against an “unidentified driver” under sections relating to negligent driving, endangering life and causing hurt in a dangerous manner under the Indian Penal Code. Police later said their investigation identified Shivam Mishra as the man behind the wheel and added his name to the case.

Kanpur Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal said that the luxury car has been impounded. He said Mishra was driving the car at the time of the accident and was pulled from the car by the private security personnel accompanying him. Mishra is being tested for an underlying medical condition as part of the investigation, police said.

Kanpur Lamborghini Accident: Claims – Counter ClaimsWitnesses described a violent impact, saying the motorcycle was hit with such force that the rider was thrown several feet into the air. The vehicle allegedly rammed the front wheel of the motorcycle and dragged it for some distance before stopping.

Onlookers alleged that soon after the accident, bouncers traveling in another car rushed to the spot, smashed the window of the Lamborghini and dragged out the unconscious Mishra. Locals allegedly tried to remove him from the spot, a scuffle ensued before he was taken to hospital.

Videos recorded by passers-by, widely circulated on social media, show security personnel removing him from the driver’s seat.

Amidst speculation that the mixture may have been under the influence of alcohol, police said it would be determined through medical tests and forensic reports.

An official said tests are also being conducted to determine whether epilepsy or any other medical condition may have contributed to the crash.

Mishra’s family claimed that he suffered seizures while driving and said he had experienced similar episodes for the past six months.

His lawyer, however, disputed that he was driving, claiming that a driver was at the wheel and that Mishra’s health was fragile. A court application has been withdrawn, and further proceedings are expected to follow.
