The six MPs, including Sanjay Dina Patel, Sanjay Deshmukh, Sanjay Jadhav, Bhausaheb Wakshwar, Nagesh Patil Ashtekar and Omprakash Raje Nimbalkar, missed the Sena parliamentary meeting in Delhi on June 17, sparking speculation that they were on their way to the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.

Of these six rebel MPs, two – Omraj Nimbalkar and Nagesh Ashtekar have officially announced their separation from the UBT Sena.
As HT reported earlier, Dharashiv MP Omraje Nimbalkar’s decision comes days after he indicated that he would take a phone call after the verdict in the murder case of his father, Pawanraje Nimbalkar. On Saturday, the Criminal Court acquitted all defendants in the murder case.
Meanwhile, Hingoli MP Nagesh Ashtekar announced his defection via Facebook Live, stating that it was difficult to continue working in his constituency while in the opposition.
Uddhav’s quote “There can be only one Sena”
Shaken by the defections, Uddhav Thackeray, president of the Shiv Sena (UBT), said there can only be one Shiv Sena as the party’s legacy is built on protecting the rights of the Maratha people.
“The Shiv Sena’s political legacy was built around protecting the rights of the Marathi people, and there can be only one Shiv Sena. In 2024, we fought against the coalition led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and still won with the support of the people. Now by seeking power and money, these MPs have betrayed the party and the people,” Thackeray said on Sunday.
About Operation Tiger
Over the past few weeks, the Shiv Sena UBT faction has been troubled by MPs’ decisions to join forces with the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, which is currently in power in Maharashtra after the 2024 Assembly elections.
Soon after the Assembly elections, in which the BJP-led NDA government came to power, reports emerged that the Shinde Sena would work to convince UBT MPs to switch.
Dubbed ‘Operation Tiger’, this strategy has currently caused a major setback to the Shiv Sena faction led by Uddhav.
Notably, the tiger was a symbol and mascot of the united Shiv Sena, drawn by party founder Bal Thackeray.

Shiv Sena crisis UBT LIVE: UBT leader Aaditya Thackeray slammed the two MPs who switched to Shinde Sena.
“To the greedy MPs who jumped in, you are just proving it, stronger than before:
1) Your loyalty and reputation are shamelessly for sale
2) The government is biased and uses public money politically as money.”
“All those who jumped now were elected on MVA and India platforms, against the NDA,” he added.
The UBT leader further stated that voters in these constituencies voted against the NDA.
“The voters voted against the NDA candidates and for India in your constituencies and for everything he stands for. Just accept that your greed led you to abandon all of that overnight, without shame,” he added.

Shiv Sena crisis UBT LIVE: Corporator Rajul Patel, daughter of rebel MP Sanjay Patel, met Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday and reiterated her loyalty to the party.
She said she visited Matoshree, Thackeray’s Bandra residence, to make it clear that she remains committed to the party.
“I am with the party and I am with them. I will do my job with all sincerity,” PTI quoted her as saying.
Patel was elected as a member of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation earlier this year, and is also a member of the Yuva Sena, the youth wing of the Shiv Sena (UBT).
When asked about her father’s rebellion, she said: “There is a tradition of making decisions individually.”

Shiv Sena crisis UBT LIVE: Amid the hype over ‘Operation Tiger’, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said the ‘operation’ was a success.
His deputy and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde said he never leaves any process incomplete.
While responding to questions about the recent defections, Fadnavis said, “The operation was successful, and the body is in very good health. There is no need for anyone to worry. Whoever needs introspection should do so.”
Shinde, who spoke at a joint press conference with Fadnavis, said he did not carry out incomplete operations.
“Whenever I perform an operation, I complete it completely. We have already shown that,” he said.
