Shillong MP Ricky Singkun
SHILLONG: Lok Sabha MP Ricky AJ Sengkon died on Thursday after collapsing while playing futsal in Shillong, according to Manush Das. The 54-year-old MP from the Meghalaya People’s Voice Party was playing with his friends when he collapsed.
He was rushed to a community health center and later admitted to the city’s Dr H Gordon Roberts Hospital, where he died shortly after at 8.42pm. Prime Minister Conrad K Sangma expressed shock, describing Sengkon as a committed public representative. Singkun, who represented Shillong constituency, was known for his active public engagements across the Khasi Jaintia Hills. He won the 2024 elections by 3.7 lakh votes over his closest rival, Congressman Vincent H. Bala. (with PTI inputs)
