One of the victims told the police that one of the accused forced her to marry under the pretext of marriage, and did not reveal that he was actually married. The woman also alleged that the accused pressured her to convert to Islam, news agency PTI reported.

“Hidden marriage”

According to the FIR filed by the woman, she had met one of the accused in the case about four years ago and they had become friends. The woman told police that the accused also promised her a job with TCS after graduation, according to a PTI report.

She alleged that in 2022, the accused imposed force on her and told her that he wanted to marry her. Later, the woman joined the TCS branch in Nashik where the accused was also working, and in 2024, the accused again sexually harassed her at a resort, according to the complaint.

However, the woman said that she only discovered that the accused was already married with two children when his wife contacted her. When confronted, the accused confirmed that he did not intend to marry the survivor.

She also alleged that the man, along with two other colleagues who were also named in the FIR, forced her to convert to Islam. The FIR also alleged that she was subjected to sexual harassment and blackmail by some of the accused involved in the case.

Stalking on social media

The investigation into the case, which is constantly unfolding with serious discoveries and accusations every day, also discovered that the suspects stalked the survivors on social media and sent them unwanted messages on sites like Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, according to a report by NDTV. The accused allegedly made obscene remarks and sent objectionable videos to the survivors, which are now being examined by the police.

So far, eight people have been accused in the case related to sexual harassment and religious coercion at a BPO in Nashik, including Nida Khan. Khan approached the Nashik Sessions Court on Saturday seeking anticipatory bail as she is allegedly still on the run. The other seven defendants were arrested.

Nida’s defense lawyers Rahul Kasliwal and Baba Syed said the court is expected to consider the anticipatory bail application for hearing on Monday, HT reported.

“She was falsely implicated in the case. She has no record of any kind of criminal activity,” Kasliwal said.

The National Commission for Women also formed a four-member fact-finding team to begin investigating the matter.
