Senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including state president Samik Bhattacharya and national general secretary Sunil Bansal, arrived in Nabanna in Kolkata on Wednesday for a crucial meeting.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah was scheduled to visit West Bengal on Thursday evening as part of the party’s ongoing political engagements after the party’s historic win in the state.
According to senior sources in the BJP, Amit Shah will first attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Bihar Cabinet expansion, and then he will directly leave from there for West Bengal. His visit is seen as important, as it comes at a crucial juncture when the party is actively engaged in post-election strategy and government formation discussions.
Earlier on Tuesday, Shah was appointed as the BJP’s central observer in West Bengal, with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Sharan Majhi serving as joint central observer.
Besides, Union Minister JP Nadda has been appointed as central observer for the party’s legislative leader election in Assam, with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini as joint central observer.

The BJP made history the previous day in the bypoll results, with the party set to form its first government in West Bengal, and the party-led NDA notched a hat-trick of victories in Assam.
According to the latest data from the Election Commission of India (ECI), the BJP won 206 of the 294 seats in West Bengal, surpassing its tally of 77 seats in the 2021 Assembly elections. The Trinamool Congress, which swept the last Assembly elections with 212 seats, came in a distant second with 80 seats.
