Police have tightened security in Dhar district, as the Madhya Pradesh High Court is expected to deliver a ruling on the dispute related to the Bhojshala Mosque complex and Kamal Maula Temple.

The legal dispute involves determining the religious character of the memorial in the Dhar district.
Dhar District Collector Rajeev Ranjan Meena appealed to the people to maintain peace in the district and avoid spreading misleading information or rumours.
“A decision is expected from the court regarding the ancient ASI-protected structure in Dhar district. We appeal to all citizens to maintain peace in the district and not pay attention to misleading information or rumours. The district administration is monitoring such misleading information and rumours, and strict action will be taken against any untoward information received in this regard,” he said in a video released by the Public Relations Office.
Later, speaking to ANI, he informed that additional police forces have been deployed to maintain peace in the areas.
“The executive magistrate and police force have been deployed and we are monitoring all important aspects,” he added.
Hindus have argued that the Bhoshala complex, located in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh state, is a temple dedicated to Goddess Vagdevi (Saraswati), while Muslims believe it is the site of the Kamal Mula Mosque.
On May 12, the Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court reserved its decision after final arguments. A division bench of Justice Vijay Kumar Shukla and Justice Alok Awasthi was hearing the matter regularly from April 6 and heard all concerned parties, including the petitioners, respondents, intervenors and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
“Since April 6, 2026, regular hearings have been held in this case and the case has been heard for about 25 days. During this period, the court heard all the parties, including the petitioners, respondents, interveners and the ASI for about 60 hours. After hearing all the parties, the proceedings in this case have concluded today,” said Shrish Dubey, counsel for Bhuj Utsav Samiti.
He also said that the lawyer representing ASI responded to all the shortcomings pointed out by the ASI survey and the questions raised about it.
Dube said: “The final pleading in this case has now ended, and the next session will be dedicated to the ruling. I believe that the ruling will come after the court’s recess.”
On the other hand, ASI’s lawyer, Aviral Khare, said that during the final arguments, they responded to all the objections raised regarding the ASI survey report.
“We informed the court that the survey conducted at Bhoshala Complex was conducted strictly in accordance with the directions of the court and with complete impartiality and transparency. The ASI survey report runs to over 2,000 pages and contains a detailed description of every aspect, including the methods used, the directions of the court, how and where the survey was conducted, what findings were reached at different locations, and the conclusions arrived at by ASI after analytical study and investigation,” it said.
He added that the final arguments from all parties ended on Tuesday and that the court reserved the matter for its decision. No further arguments will be made in the case now; Only the ruling remains, which the court will pronounce at the appropriate time.
As per a 2003 arrangement, Hindus perform puja at the complex on Tuesdays from sunrise to sunset, while Muslims perform puja on Fridays from 1 pm to 3 pm. (that I)
