Newly sworn-in Chief Minister of Bihar, Samrat Chaudhary, is a “product of Lalu Yadav’s classroom”, Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday said.

Yadav’s remarks came just a day before Chaudhary was sworn in as chief minister of Bihar.
Samrat Chaudhary was not chosen as Bihar’s chief minister by the people, the RJD leader said, alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had ended the tenure of Nitish Kumar, who resigned as chief minister on Tuesday.
“Samrat Chaudhary is a product of Lalu Yadav’s dismissal. Bihar’s politics will continue to revolve around Lalu Yadav… The BJP has also ruled alongside them (NDA) for 20 years. However, Bihar’s treasury remains empty,” he told reporters.

“This is not a Prime Minister chosen by the people of Bihar. The public has not given him the mandate…’Nitish ji ko BJP ne khatam kar diya toh fo ab khatam ho jay hai (BJP is done with Nitish, so he is done now),” he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Chaudhary, who was elected leader of the BJP legislative party on Tuesday, was sworn in as chief minister of Bihar on Wednesday, the first time a BJP leader has held the highest office in the state. Soon after the oath-taking ceremony, Chaudhary took over as the top boss in the Bihar State Secretariat.
Earlier on Tuesday, Chaudhary asserted that the BJP would continue to prioritize India before anything else. In a post on X, he expressed his gratitude to the party and described the role as a “sacred opportunity” to serve the people of Bihar.
“I express my sincere gratitude to the BJP central leadership for restoring their faith in me… This is not just a position for me, but a sacred opportunity to serve the people of Bihar,” he added.
Previously, Chaudhary served as Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister in the Nitish Kumar-led government.
In last year’s Bihar Assembly elections, while the National Democratic Alliance – including the BJP and the Janata Dal (United) – achieved a landslide victory, the saffron party emerged as the largest party.
Samrat Chaudhary has been in politics for about 30 years and has been part of the BJP since 2015.
