Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister Nara Lokesh laid the foundation stone for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project in Puttaparthi on Friday.

According to the AP CMO, the prestigious AMCA project, was constructed at an estimated cost of $15,803 crore is expected to provide employment to nearly 7,500 people and strengthen the domestic ecosystem of defense and aerospace industries in India.
In addition to the AMCA project, the Defense Minister and Prime Minister also laid the foundation stones for several other defense-related projects proposed under the Drone City Initiative.
During the visit, Chandrababu Naidu, Rajnath Singh, Minister Lokesh and other dignitaries inspected a defense exhibition showcasing advanced military equipment, including missiles, grenades, modern firearms and a prototype fighter aircraft, according to a statement by the Chief of Military Operations.
The projects launched during the visit include the flight test centre, marine systems facility, defense power units, ammunition factories, and drone city infrastructure projects.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the AMCA Aircraft Integration and Flight Test Centre, to be developed by the Aviation Development Agency, will facilitate aircraft integration, testing, validation and certification and is expected to accelerate the development of India’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft programme.
The Defense Minister will also lay the foundation stone for Bharat Dynamics Limited’s new naval systems manufacturing facility at T Sirasapalli village in Anakapalli district. The facility aims to meet the growing requirements for advanced underwater weapons systems and naval combat systems.
Grounding ceremonies will also be held for Agneyastra Energetics Limited’s Defense Power Facility, HFCL Ammunition and Electrical Fuses Plant at Madakasera in Sri Sathya Sai District and multiple projects under Drone City in Kurnool.
Various MoUs are also expected to be signed with the Andhra Pradesh government.
