Data indicate that women between the ages of 36 and 45 years represent 25.2% of the beneficiaries, while women in the age group of 46-59 years constitute 25.4%. Together, they constitute more than 50% of the beneficiaries included in this scheme.

The government said more than 33,000 eligible women had completed registration by June 25 and had already received assistance in their bank accounts. The remaining eligible beneficiaries are scheduled to receive the amount on August 1. About 70,000 women have registered under the program so far.

The higher representation of women in the 36-59 age group reflects a period when many families face expenses related to children’s education, health care, housing and other family responsibilities, the state said.

Beneficiaries from different regions said they used the financial assistance to cover education, health care and household expenses.

Sunita Rani, 48, from Dhani Kharaswali village in Fazilka district, said she used the money to pay her son’s school fees and support the family’s expenses. Bachchu, 55, a widow from Ferozepur, said she spent part of the aid on medical treatment and used the rest for family needs, including school fees for her grandson.

Karamjit Kaur, 46, a self-help group member, said she had bought new glasses and fuel for her scooter with help and plans to use future installments to cover her son’s sports-related expenses. Preeti, 28, a domestic worker from Fazilka, said the money helped her pay her children’s school fees, while another beneficiary, Baljit Kaur, said she used the assistance to cover medical expenses.

According to the government, the program provides monthly financial assistance to eligible women through direct benefit transfers, with beneficiaries indicating that the funds are primarily used for education, health care, and daily household spending.
