Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday responded to a call from Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and thanked him for his condolences after 12 Indian nationals were killed in an explosion and fire at the huge Ras Laffan LNG complex in Qatar.
“I thank His Highness the Amir for his phone call and condolences on the loss of lives of Indian citizens in the tragic accident that occurred in Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar,” Modi wrote in a post on X.

The Indian Embassy in Doha said on Monday that 12 Indian citizens were killed and several others injured in an explosion and fire at the huge Ras Laffan liquefied natural gas complex in Qatar.
Qatari Minister of State for Energy, Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, said in a press conference in Doha that 13 people were killed and 66 others were injured in the accident that occurred at the Barzan gas supply facility operated by Qatar Energy LNG Company in Ras Laffan Industrial City on Sunday evening.
The Indian embassy said on social media that the Qatari authorities confirmed that 12 Indian citizens were killed in the incident. “We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and pray for the souls of the deceased,” the statement read.
