The last rites of Pratik Yadav, stepson of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and half-brother of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, will be held on Thursday, May 14, at Baikunth Dham Lucknow.

Prateek passed away early on Wednesday morning, May 13, at the age of 38 after he was reported to be unwell and was rushed to hospital. He was married to BJP leader Aparna Yadav and they had a daughter together.
Akhilesh Yadav expressed grief over Pratik’s death and said that he was very young and was very conscious of his health since childhood.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed his condolences over the death of Prateek Yadav, describing it as “extremely heartbreaking”.
He died due to a blood clot in the lungs
According to Pratik’s post-mortem examination, seen by HT, he suffered “cardiac and respiratory collapse due to massive pulmonary thromboembolism”. This suggested that a large blood clot had severely obstructed blood flow in his lungs and caused sudden heart and respiratory failure.
He underwent treatment for several health conditions
The hospital said Prateek was undergoing treatment for several health conditions and had reportedly been admitted to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow several times over the past year. She added that Pratik was admitted to the hospital to receive treatment for several serious health complications.
He was last admitted to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow on April 29, a few weeks before his death, due to severe shortness of breath and difficulty breathing.
“Prateik Yadav had a known case of HTN (High Blood Pressure) and DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) and was visiting Medanta Lucknow for treatment. He recently visited the hospital with sudden onset of difficulty breathing and chest discomfort and was diagnosed with near massive pulmonary embolism with cardiac involvement. He was last seen on April 29, 2026,” the hospital said in a statement.
Fitness enthusiast
Prateek Yadav was a well-known fitness enthusiast and was the ‘first Indian’ to win the prestigious ‘International Transformation of the Month’ title on a leading global fitness platform in 2012.
Not only did he own a gym in Lucknow called Iron Core Fit, but he also launched a fitness wear brand called Iron Hyde.
A fan of Tony Robbins
Prateek Yadav was a fan of motivational speaker Tony Robbins and frequently attended his personal development seminars in the United States. Pratik was a known fitness enthusiast and credited Robbins for inspiring him to start his fitness journey.
Animal lover
Prateek Yadav’s love for animals is no secret to anyone. He would make sure the dogs around his office in Lucknow were fed and taken care of, and would frequently share videos with the animals on his social media, where he was very active.
He founded an animal welfare organization – Jeff Ashraya – to rescue stray animals and provide them with proper medical care and care.
