PM Modi’s visit to Israel Live Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Israel on a two-day visit when he arrived in the capital Tel Aviv on Wednesday. This is his second official trip to Israel, having visited it earlier in 2017. Modi addressed a special plenary session of the Knesset, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to speak in the Israeli Parliament. Parliament Speaker Amir Ohana received Modi in the Knesset and held a ceremonial reception for him. Before his speech, Netanyahu, Opposition Leader Yair Lapid and House Speaker Ohana addressed the plenary session, expressing strong bipartisan support for India-Israel relations.

Modi said in the Knesset that combating terrorism requires sustained and coordinated global action because terrorism anywhere threatens peace everywhere, adding that India strongly supports the Gaza peace initiative, which he stressed holds the promise of a “just and lasting” peace.
In a 32-minute speech before Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, the Prime Minister also said that the India-Israel FTA under negotiation will unleash the vast untapped potential of their bilateral trade relationship, and stressed that the relationship between the two countries is written in “blood and sacrifice”, and lauded the technology and defense ties.
At the joint dinner, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday surprised Modi by appearing in traditional Indian dress in Jerusalem. In a post on X, Netanyahu shared glimpses of Prime Minister Modi’s reaction. “Before our joint dinner, I surprised my friend Prime Minister Modi by wearing a traditional Indian outfit,” he wrote.
