Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday accused the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of harming the future of the country’s youth.
“You are the person who has harmed the future of our youth the most. You have allowed and encouraged the takeover and complete destruction of our education system – and you have protected everyone responsible for it,” the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha posted on his official X account. Prime Minister Modi in an earlier post said that the “welfare and future of the youth” is the top priority, and said those who tried to harm it “will not be spared”.
Gandhi reiterated the demands of the students and demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
“1. Dismiss Dharmendra Pradhan. 2. Apologize to the students. 3. Take action against those who assaulted them,” he wrote.
On Wednesday evening, Gandhi held a press conference and described these demands as non-negotiable, which hardened his position amid the deadlock in Parliament.
Congress Communications Secretary Jairam Ramesh also echoed similar sentiments.
“The Prime Minister does not have the courage to stand up in Parliament, speak out and participate in a serious debate, as all his predecessors did when the occasion required it,” he wrote.
“This morning he made a post on social media to show his concern for the issues raised by students across the country. In fact, a post like this makes it clear that he is shaken and agitated,” Ramesh said, adding, “Vote for Churi, see Churi, Chanda Churi, exam paper Churi… and the list goes on and on.”
