Modi inaugurates two corridors of New Delhi Metro: routes and other details

The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Majlis Park-Maujpur-Babarpur section of the Pink Line and the Deepali Chowk-Majlis Park stretch of the Magenta Line.

After the launch, the Pink Line will extend to 71.56 kilometers. This will complete the country’s first fully functional ‘ring metro’ extending around large parts of Delhi, officials told HT.

Stations along this stretch include Burari, Garuda Majra, Jagatpur-Wazirabad, Surghat, Nanaxar-Sonia Vihar, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar before Mujpur-Babarpur, as mentioned in an earlier HT report.

Gupta said the project will enhance connectivity between northeast and northwest Delhi and allow faster travel across several parts of the capital.

The Deepali Chowk-Majlis Park corridor will take the Magenta line for a length of approximately 49 km. It is worth noting that the Deepali Chowk-Majlis Park Extension is an extension of the Magenta Line of the Botanical Garden-Krishna Park Extension.

It will include seven elevated stations such as Madhuban Chowk, Uttar Pitampura-Prashant Vihar, Hyderpur Village, Hyderpur Badli More and Balswa.

The Majlis Park-Maujpur-Babarpur section also features a new bridge over the Yamuna River, a double-decker bridge carrying a metro track and a flyover.

Foundation stone for three new metro corridors

Modi will also lay the foundation stone for three corridors of Delhi Metro under Phase 5A. The projects include the 9,913 km long Vista Central Underground Corridor connecting Ramakrishna Ashram Marg and Indraprastha, the 2,263 km underground extension of the Gold Line between Aerocity and Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal 1, and the 3.9 km long elevated extension of the Gold Line from Tughlaqabad to Kalindi Kunj.

The government said the corridors are expected to strengthen links between cities of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) such as Noida, Faridabad and Ballabgarh.

Apart from metro projects, the Prime Minister will also launch and lay the foundation stone for worthwhile works $15,200 crore under Redevelopment of General Residential Colonies (GPRA).

Meanwhile, a day before International Women’s Day on Sunday, Gupta traveled on a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus using the Saheli Pink National Common Mobility Card (NCMC). The card allows women to travel free of charge on Delhi Transport Corporation buses.
