Prime Minister Modi recently crossed the 100 million followers mark on Instagram, leaving US President Donald Trump far behind to take the place of the first ever politician and world leader to achieve this monumental feat.

Among top global leaders, Narendra Modi now ranks first in terms of having the largest number of followers on Instagram, more than double those of US President Donald Trump.

Where do other leaders stand?

US President Donald Trump currently ranks second with 43.2 million followers on Instagram. The president primarily uses his social media platform Truth Social for statements, responses, and more.

Prime Minister Modi’s huge following has left behind those of the following five major international leaders:

  • Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has 15 million followers
  • Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva with 14.4 million followers
  • Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan with 11.6 million followers
  • Argentine President Javier Miley with 6.4 million followers.

PM Modi reaches a number of prominent followers

In a sign that Modi has become a global celebrity, his followers have started flocking to his Instagram account ever since he created an account in 2014. The account has evolved over the past 12 years as one of the most engaging digital spaces among global leaders, news agency PTI reported, citing officials.

Among Indian leaders, Modi’s position is currently followed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who has 16 million followers on the social media platform, and opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, who trails behind him with 12.6 million followers.

According to Statistia, Prime Minister Modi has an approval rating of 70 per cent, as of December 2025, placing him at the top of the list among other world leaders.

He was followed directly by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaishi with 63 percent support and Argentine Javier Miley with 60 percent support.

Donald Trump ranked eleventh According to the indicator With only 43 percent.
