Indian Premier League (IPL) cricketer Shashank Singh and his father Shailesh Singh have been booked by Bhopal Police after allegations of assault, verbal abuse and illegal confinement by their cook. Shashank Singh plays in the Indian Premier League for Punjab Kings.

Among the allegations made by the cook in his written complaint, 31-year-old Vibindra Singh Tomar claimed that he was subjected to verbal abuse at Singh’s home and after his decision to resign, things escalated further. Tomar claimed that the accused confiscated his phone and made him pay for the food he ate at their house for three days, ANI reported.
Tomar said he was “beaten up” by the cricketer and his driver. A medical examination conducted by the police revealed that Tomar had clear signs of injury on his body.

“a promise.” $Salary 15,000 help in a government job
Based on Tomar’s complaint, the police registered a case at Ratbad police station. The cook, who hails from Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh, was working at the Singh family home in Minduri village through an acquaintance.
He said that he was promised a salary $15,000 with free accommodation and food, and was assured of help in securing a government job in the future. However, Singh said that within hours of joining, he faced mental pressure and verbal abuse over the quality of the food. Then he decided to leave his job and return to his home, which angered the accused, according to RIA Novosti.
“They beat me, confiscated my phone; I had to pay for the food.”
Tomar said that when he informed the accused of his decision to resign, they took his phone and said they would investigate him. Shashank’s father, Shailesh Singh, told him: “Why did you come here? Are you here to kill me? Are you here to steal? I will investigate you. You will have to work for at least a month,” ANI reported.
Tomar also claimed that the accused tried to intimidate him by saying, “I have shot a lot of people like you.” The cook then continued working for two more days, hoping to get his phone back. However, when that didn’t happen, he locked himself in a room and demanded his phone.
He opened the door only when cricketer Shashank Singh came, but he was beaten up immediately after that. “I thought he was their son, he was rational, he would help me out,” Tomar said. “But as soon as I opened the gate, he took offense and started beating me badly.” He added: “They kicked me and beat me with sticks, shoes and hands as much as they could. Shashank Singh, his father Shailesh Singh, their driver and his sister were involved in beating me.” Tomar said the accused also asked him for money for the food he was eating at their house.
“My brother-in-law sent me $“I gave them 1,000… and they did not pay me even a single rupee for my work,” he said.
