An investigation was launched after human body parts were found under a train carriage here on Saturday, police said.

According to the Alappuzha Railway Police, the human right arm with a toe was found on an iron support below the auxiliary tank tank of the S-5 coach of the Alappuzha-Dhanbad express train.

Cleaning workers noticed the body parts when the train was parked in the pit line yard early in the morning.
The train reached Alappuzha from Dhanbad on Friday evening and was scheduled to leave again on Saturday morning.

The Railway Police registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation.
Police said an investigation will be conducted and detailed investigations into the incident are currently underway.

They will also seek details from police in other states to ascertain whether any deaths have been reported along the route on which the train has been running in recent days.
