On the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor on Thursday, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh plans to conduct a comprehensive review of India’s national security challenges and the Army’s combat readiness at a joint commanders’ conference in Jaipur.

Under the operation, India launched a series of precision missile strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the early hours of May 7 last year, eliminating at least 100 terrorists, in response to the horrific Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians.
As the country marks the first anniversary of the multi-domain operation, the Defense Ministry described it as a tri-service mission that stands as a testimony to India’s “unwavering political will and military resolve characterized by surgical precision”.
In the second edition of the two-day Joint Commanders’ Conference, Singh and senior military commanders are expected to review various aspects of the country’s military preparedness in light of the evolving regional security scenario.
Defense Minister Singh and Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chouhan will attend the conference, which assumes significance as it coincides with the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, a tri-service operation that stands as a testimony to India’s unwavering political will and military resolve characterized by surgical precision, an official statement said.
“Modern warfare is moving to a more complex, technology-driven model with the transformative impact of artificial intelligence, the development of unmanned systems and emerging threats that extend beyond traditional battlefields and target invisible frontiers,” she said.
The ministry said that the conference will provide a pivotal forum to assess challenges in the emerging fields of cyber, space, and cognitive warfare and chart a roadmap for developing capabilities for a flexible, future-ready force with a decisive advantage.
“It will be key on the agenda to accelerate indigenization and Aatmanirbharta in defense production by strengthening the local innovation ecosystem and civil-military integration,” he said.
