Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said on Tuesday that one person has been arrested in the case related to the discovery of two gelatin sticks on the road that was scheduled to be used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy during his visit to Bengaluru on Sunday.

“Someone called and said a bomb had been placed at that place. He has been arrested and is being interrogated,” Parameshwara told reporters. He added: “All materials found on the road, including gelatin sticks, are being investigated.”
He added that the NIA had also sought permission to investigate the case. “We’ll let them investigate as well.”
Pointing out that high-level security was being provided for the Prime Minister’s events by both state and central agencies, he said, “The state government has received instructions, and security has been arranged. The gelatin sticks were discovered at 9 am, two hours before the event. This is a good job.”
Regarding the possibility of a terrorist connection, he said: “We cannot say anything now. Let the investigations begin.”
Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) rushed to Bengaluru to investigate the incident. The NIA will assist local police in investigating the matter.
“A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is on its way to the spot where a suspicious package containing two gelatin sticks was found on the outskirts of Bengaluru, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy was scheduled to pass on Sunday. The NIA will assist local police in the investigation,” officials told ANI.
According to local police, the package containing two gelatin sticks was found about a kilometer from the NICE Road intersection near Thathaguni, Kagalipura, on Sunday morning, about an hour and a half before the Prime Minister’s visit.
Investigators learned that a police officer who was part of an area control exercise and was conducting counter-vandalism checks found the device about 25 feet from the road near the complex wall.
Shortly after the information came, the area surveillance team reached the spot and found two pieces of gelatin. The sticks were immediately recovered and the area secured.
No suspects have been arrested yet, while an investigation has been opened and special teams have been formed to track down the suspects.
