Several video clips were also circulated on the X website, which showed many domestic workers gathering outside the residential complex to demand better wages.

According to a report by ABP News, domestic workers took to the streets outside Cleo District in Sector 121 as they demanded an increase in their salaries and better working conditions. A number of protesters said, raising slogans: “We will not return to work until our wages are increased.”

Speaking to reporters, the workers stated that their salaries remain low with the cost of living rising every day, presenting a sharp contrast. They added that due to the current working conditions in some homes, they do not get enough leave and are often exhausted from work.

Responding to the protest, DCP Shaivya Goyal said that the authorities are closely monitoring and the situation is under control at present.

“The locations of the incidents in Kilio district, Garhi Chukhandi, Sector 121, Sector 70 are the same, where domestic helpers working in homes demonstrated to increase their wages. The situation is completely peaceful and law and order has been established. We appeal to the public not to believe the rumours,” a statement issued by the Communist Party of the Republic of Congo said.

The DCP also explained that a video was circulating in which the same incident allegedly occurred at three different places. “In this incident, some women working as domestic workers demanded a salary increase. These women are not factory workers,” Singh said, adding that police were present at the site and peace and order were maintained.

The demonstration comes against the backdrop of widespread unrest in Noida, where factory workers, on Monday, set fire to vehicles, pelted stones and vandalized property in several areas such as Phase 2, Sector 60, Sector 62 and more.

This protest came after the Haryana state government announced an increase in the basic wage for workers.

The demonstrations on Monday also led to major traffic disruptions between Noida and Greater Noida as well as movement from Noida to Delhi.
