The 32-year-old travel influencer died last year in Las Vegas in the US, with authorities citing an accidental overdose of fentanyl and alcohol as a possible cause. Sood was found unconscious in his hotel room at the One Las Vegas on November 4, 2025. According to prosecutors from the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, Sood obtained what was believed to be cocaine from 49-year-old Thamrong Hill at a Las Vegas casino.

Sood saw his friends approaching an unknown man because of drugs

The video obtained by 8 News Now shows Sood’s Indian fiancée approaching “an unidentified man who was playing a slot machine” and asking him if he knew how to get “party supplies,” according to a Clark County coroner’s office report.

The fiancée and her friend, an Indian woman whom Sood and his fiancée had contacted on their trip to Las Vegas, testified before the grand jury virtually from India, according to court records.

On Nov. 3, Sood allegedly talked to his companions about obtaining and using drugs before returning home, according to the report. They then approached Hill the next day on the Wynn Casino floor and asked him if he had cocaine. After settling the amount, Sood withdrew the money and went to the side to get the medicine from Hill.

The friend testified: “He took the package out of his bag, hid it on the table in a very discreet way, I gave her the money, and then the three of us went upstairs.”

“His lips were blue…and he wasn’t reacting.”

Another video clip shows Sood and the two women in the elevator when, according to her testimony, his fiancée takes out a small bag and shows it to Sood before they go to their hotel room. A friend of the couple said she was skeptical about the substance they had purchased, and tried to deter the influencer from using it.

“It was very good, white, honestly like sugar, when he took it out of the bag and I was like, ‘This doesn’t feel right,’” the friend said, adding that Sood was also skeptical about it after trying it, according to 8 News Now.

She also recalled the hours after they woke up, saying they were in “flexible mode.”

“I was half on the floor and half in the chair. My body was flexible,” she testified.

She described Sood’s condition, saying, “His lips were blue” and he was breathing “heavier than usual.”

“It seemed a little weird because he was just flopping around and not interacting,” she said.

According to an 8 News Now report, first responders found Sood could not be resuscitated upon arrival, and investigators found a bag of a white, powdery substance under the seat cushion of a chair inside the hotel room.

Meanwhile, Hill was taken into custody on November 23 of last year and charged with three felony counts, including second-degree murder, selling, transporting or attempting to sell or transport a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.
