The Ross Avenue court on Tuesday sought a response from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the interim bail application filed by National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-UG paper leak accused Yash Yadav, who sought 15 days’ interim bail to appear in the upcoming NEET UG re-examination scheduled for June 21, and also to attend his sister’s wedding.

Special Judge (CBI) Ajay Gupta granted time to the CBI to file its response to the application filed by Yash Yadav. The court decided to refer the case to next June 12 session.

During the proceedings, the court had earlier, on June 2, allowed the application filed by the accused seeking permission to possess books for preparation of NEET UG examination. The court had indicated that the examination was scheduled to take place on June 21. Lawyers Kapil Yadav and Ambika appeared for the accused during the hearing.

Earlier, it was also submitted before the court that Yash Yadav had appeared in the NEET UG exam conducted on May 3. His lawyer requested permission to access study materials, stating that he needed books to prepare for the retest.

During the hearing, the court asked the lawyer whether she had confirmed that he would be allowed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to appear for the examination, as an accused in this case, and asked whether he had been issued an admit card.

An FIR was lodged on May 12 on the complaint filed by a government official under sections of BNS, Prevention of Corruption Act, offenses of using unfair means in examinations, etc.

Mangilal Bewal allegedly called Shubham Khairnar to get question paper for his son Vikas Bewal. The larger group was then created with other defendants.

It is also alleged that Shubham leaked the paper first to Yash, then Yash to Mangilal, which was later handed over to Vikas, and then to Dinesh Biwal.

Mangilal Bewal allegedly received Yash Yadav’s leaked NEET UG paper for consideration $10 lakh. During interrogation, Vikas Bewal stated that he was in contact with Yash Yadav during training in Sikar.

It is also alleged that Mangilal Bewal also circulated the leaked paper to almost various candidates $12 lakh.

In this case, the CBI has also arrested several accused, including Shubham Khairnar, Manisha Waghmaar, Prahalad Kulkarni, Manisha Mandhari, Manisha Sanjay Hawaldar, Shivraj Raghunath Motigaonkar, Dr Manoj Shirori and Tejas Harshad Kumar Shah. All the accused are currently in judicial custody after CBI interrogation.
