Akshat Singh, 21, is accused of killing his father Manvendra Singh, 50, a liquor businessman and pathology lab owner, on the morning of February 20.

NEET stress test, murder and severed body parts

A day after the arrest, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Jitendra Kumar Dubey spoke about the possible factors that might have led to the murder.

“Prima facie, the origin of the incident seems to be anger over his father repeatedly pressuring him to focus on studies and pass the NEET medical entrance exam. However, further questioning is underway and a thorough investigation is underway,” Dubey told PTI.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Vikrant Veer said Akshat shot his father dead around 4.30 am after a dispute.

The accused later dismembered the body in an attempt to destroy evidence, disposing of the severed hands and legs in various places while concealing the torso inside a cylinder kept on the ground floor of their house.

On Monday evening, police raided the house and found the barrel containing the mutilated remains.

Forensic experts examine bloodstains in the car and home, while teams search for missing parts in our chests. Police said that Akshat’s attempt to clean the car raised suspicions.

During interrogation, Akshat initially claimed that his father committed suicide, but later confessed. “Strict interrogation led to his confession,” the officer said.

Residents were shaken and family members were shocked

Singh’s family hails from Jalun district. Manvendra’s father is a retired police officer from Uttar Pradesh. His wife died nine years ago.

The police said that the accused confessed, the weapon was found, and the body was referred to forensic medicine.

The crime has left residents of Sector L of Ashiana in shock. A neighbor said it was unbelievable for the son to commit such an act.
