Amid the controversy caused by NEET paper leak, a high-level meeting was held at Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s residence on Thursday evening.

According to a report by PTI, the meeting held amid the controversy discussed conducting re-examination of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG).

The National Testing Agency announced on Tuesday the cancellation of the medical entrance exam after it was found that the exam paper had been leaked on various platforms before the May 3 exam. After the entrance test was cancelled, the NTA said it would conduct a re-test, leaving over 22 lakh medical aspirants in India in a state of uncertainty.

Citing people aware of the matter, PTI reported that the late-night meeting at the Union minister’s residence was attended by Minister (Higher Education) Vineet Joshi, Secretary (School Education) Sanjay Kumar, National Testing Agency (NTA) Director General Abhishek Singh, CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh, and commissioners of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS). Along with other senior officials.

While the new date for the retake of the NEET exam is yet to be announced, NTA Director General Abhishek Singh said that the schedule will be announced in the “next seven to 10 days”.

After the NEET question paper was leaked and the exam was cancelled, the Central Bureau of Investigation began its investigation.

On Thursday, the Central Bank of Iraq detained five people linked to the newspaper leak and arrested two other suspects. CBI officials also said that they are investigating the role of an insider in the National Testing Agency.

As the investigation continues, officials also stated that the involvement of public officials in the leak “cannot be ruled out.”
