A video from an HDFC bank in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur, showing a female employee apparently engaged in a heated argument with a customer, has gone viral on social media. Following this, the employee, identified as Aastha Singh, issued a clarification that while he was conscious of not using hateful language at work, he would not tolerate anyone threatening to ‘teach him a lesson’.

Amid growing speculation about the viral video HDFC The staff issued a clarification.

Singh said that, firstly, the video is not a recent incident, clarifying that it is from January 6.

“Secondly, this video is not related to any customer. I have not misbehaved with any customer. This video is from an argument I had with the husband of another female employee working in the same bank branch as me,” Singh said in his clarification video.

The video has not only been misinterpreted to show me arguing with a customer, but has also been used for an argument about caste identity.

Singh gave a detailed account of the incident. He said one of his colleagues resigned and wanted to be released the same day.

“Her sister-in-law was sitting in the branch since morning, and I had a small argument with her. Later, the sister-in-law informed her brother (colleague’s husband) about the argument,” Singh said in the video.

She complains that her colleague’s husband shows up at the branch after work. “He entered the bank at 4:30 pm and misbehaved with me. He directly asked me what caste (kounsi jati ke ho) I was and said I have a lot of pride,” Singh added.

She said that he also came to her desk and threatened to ‘teach her a lesson’. According to Singh, he said, “I will remove your pride. “I’ll take the summer heat off you.”

Singh said she beat him after he misbehaved with her.

“Yes, my words were wrong. I am aware that I am doing public service, and my words should be measured carefully. But if someone threatens to teach me, I will not tolerate it,” Singh asserted.

I stand by my statement that “I am a Tagore” and I am completely proud of this fact.
