The previous medical note identifies the patient as Sonam Wangchuk, 53, male, and says the medical examination took place on July 13. The note stated: “I am undergoing my medical examination of my own free will.”

The document from the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences (ABVIMS)-Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital records Wangchuk’s complaint as mild dizziness, and notes that the patient’s hydration is fair. According to sources, Wangchuk refused to be hospitalized at that time as well, but was taken to the hospital to receive medical care.

The vital signs recorded are:

Blood pressure: 107/70 mm Hg

SpO₂: 98% of room air

Pulse: 72 per minute

Random blood sugar (RBS): 67 mg/dL

The paper is an emergency triage/registration note. The document does not mention any diagnosis beyond mild dizziness.

Delhi Police clarification on the 21st

Chaos erupted at Jantar Mantar this morning when Wangchuk was taken to hospital by police. In a later statement, Delhi Police said Wangchuk was taken to hospital because the Delhi High Court had ordered that his health condition be monitored. However, CJP activists and protesters alleged that the climate activist beat and robbed him “forcibly”.

“Based on the orders of the Honorable Supreme Court and on expert medical advice due to the deteriorating health condition of Sheikh Sonam Wangchuk, he has been shifted to hospital to receive basic medical care,” a Communist Party statement in New Delhi said.

“While complying with the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, the protesters attempted to create obstruction, resulting in minor commotion, but the police exercised utmost restraint and carried out the exercise safely,” he added.

Moreover, the police appealed to the protesters at Jantar Mantar to “vacate the place peacefully as soon as possible.”

Earlier, the Delhi High Court ordered that Wangchuk’s medical condition be monitored daily during his hunger strike. Follow live updates on Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike here.

“The life of every citizen is precious and government authorities must make every effort to save it,” the court observed. It also directed that any required medical intervention be provided, based on the opinion of government doctors, according to news agency ANI.

Sonam Wangchuk’s health condition

Wangchuk said on Friday that he lost nearly 20 percent of his body during his indefinite hunger strike.

In a video message shared at the end of the 20th day of his fast, the activist urged people to join the AKP’s proposed parliamentary march on July 20.

Wangchuk said: “Yes, I am still alive. 20% of my body is gone. After the fat, the muscles are gone. After that, the organs will go. Finally, the brain. It is not time yet.”

He added: “Day 20 is coming to an end. Let me prove that my mind is still fine.”

The CJP has been staging a protest at Jantar Mantar since June 20, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities.

Wangchuk joined the agitation on June 28 and has been on an indefinite hunger strike since then.
