The Indian government said on Wednesday that India and Myanmar reviewed the prevailing security situation along the Indo-Myanmar border, and reiterated the importance of maintaining peace, stability and security along the Indo-Myanmar border.

The two-day meeting, held from July 7 to 8, was chaired by Union Home Minister Govind Mohan and Myanmar Deputy Home Minister Major General Min Thu.

“Both sides stressed the importance of preventing misuse of sovereign territory for activities inconsistent with their security interests. The Myanmar side emphasized that it will not allow its territory to be used against India’s security interests,” the Union Home Ministry said in a statement.
The meeting reaffirmed the importance of the long-term friendship and close partnership between the two countries.
