As the CJP-led protest continues at Jantar Mantar, Delhi University has appealed to its students and faculty to refrain from visiting the demonstration site, citing safety concerns and possible legal consequences.
In a post on social media, the administration urged students to prioritize their safety and stay away from any illegal gatherings.
“Your safety is important to us”
The post began by emphasizing the university’s concern for the safety of its students and faculty.
“Dear students and faculty, your safety is important to us. Please note that any unlawful gatherings or demonstrations at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, which are strictly organized as per the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, may invite legal action.”

The university reminded students that participation in such gatherings may have consequences beyond direct legal issues.
“Such activities can also pose serious risks to the personal safety of students and significantly impact their academic progress and career opportunities. Accordingly, we urge all students to stay away from Jantar Mantar, prioritize their safety and comply with the law,” she added.
The university warns against false and misleading content
Delhi University also warned students against misinformation being circulated during the ongoing protests. “Furthermore, we advise you to be careful as a large amount of fake and misleading content is being created and distributed to inflame the situation,” the post read.
IIT Madras asks the student body to delete the video
Meanwhile, a student body at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has alleged that senior institute officials have asked it to delete an Instagram video posted in support of students protesting against examination violations and have refused to allow a peaceful assembly, saying it could “disrupt” the institute’s relations with the Center and “tarnish” the image of IIT Madras.

According to the ChintaBAR group, a recognized independent student body, it had sought permission on July 20 to organize a peaceful rally in support of students affected by paper leakage and irregularities in national-level entrance examinations such as NEET-UG and UGC-NET, as well as those involved in the ongoing protests in Delhi and elsewhere.
CJP calls for nationwide protest
The Sarwar Janata Party (CJP) has called for a nationwide protest on Friday, July 24, urging its supporters, student unions and civil society organizations to hold peaceful demonstrations across the regions in solidarity with those it claims are victims of police brutality during recent protests.

In a poster shared on social media, the CJP urged people across the country to join the protest with the theme “Every district. One day. One demand.”
The party asked its supporters to organize peaceful demonstrations in every region and to stand in solidarity with those who say they have been subjected to police measures. She urged the participants to gather in the designated places and read the students’ demands to the gathered crowd.
