Fire at Malviya Nagar restaurant in Delhi

Delhi Fire Services received an emergency call in the morning and quickly sent several fire brigades to the scene, officials said.

The deployment included two water vehicles, two water vehicles, a rapid response vehicle and other emergency equipment.

An official from the Delhi Fire Service said that three people were rescued from the basement of the Lemon Green restaurant.

Several fire engines went to the site at around 8:50 a.m. to control the fire.

The rescued people were transported to a hospital in CATS ambulances for treatment. Their condition was not immediately known.

The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined. More information is awaited.

Prime Minister Modi condoles loss of life

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed his condolences over the fire deaths in Malviya Nagar and announced financial assistance to the families of the victims as well as the injured.

He said that the families of those who lost their lives would receive a sum of money as a donation $2 lakh each from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, while those injured in the accident will be given $50,000 each.

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta reacts

Reacting to the incident, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed grief over the death of the victims and said the government was closely monitoring the situation.

In a post on X, Gupta said emergency teams from Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and CATS ambulance services were deployed as soon as they received information about the fire.

She said their immediate action helped rescue and evacuate many people from the damaged building.
