A 25-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife to death on suspicion of having an extramarital affair, then stuffed her body into a trolley case and dumped it near the Indira Dam in Lucknow. He then called the police to report her disappearance.

Chinhat Police said on Friday that the incident occurred on Thursday midnight around 2am while the body was dumped on Friday morning.
According to Chinhat station house officer, Dinesh Chandra Mishra, the accused, identified as Altaf alias Kalu, a native of Rudauli in Barabanki and a vegetable vendor currently living near Ramlila Maidan in Chinhat, arrived at the police station earlier in the day to file a complaint regarding the disappearance of his wife Yasmin, 24.

Police said that officers became suspicious during interrogation and conducted a detailed interrogation during which the accused confessed to committing the crime.
According to the SHO, the accused told investigators that he often quarreled with his wife because he suspected that she was having an affair with one of his close relatives.
The couple has reportedly been fighting over the issue for some time.
“During interrogation, the accused allegedly revealed that in a fit of rage around 2 am on May 14, he strangled his wife to death inside their house. He later transported the body in a battery-powered auto rickshaw around 5 am and dumped it near Indira Dam near Jajur area under BBD police station limits,” the statement said.
After the confession, BBD police recovered the woman’s body from the place mentioned by the accused. A forensic team was called to the scene to collect evidence and inspect the scene of the accident.
The police said, in a detailed statement, that the accused was arrested pending ongoing investigations. Officials added that legal action is being taken based on the complaint filed by the victim’s family members. This case is being investigated further.
