Lokhande Prashant Sitaram was appointed as the new head of CBSE on Tuesday amid a row over the screen marking system. He replaces Rahul Singh who was transferred earlier in the day along with Secretary Himanshu Gupta.

Rahul Singh has now been appointed Additional Secretary in the Agriculture Ministry, according to a joint order of the government which said the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the new appointments.
Sitaram is an AGMUT cadre IAS officer of 2001 batch and is moving to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) from his post as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
His last path was in the Home Ministry headed by Amit Shah. He was appointed joint secretary of MHA in late 2022 and was promoted to additional secretary recently.
Rahul Singh, who will replace him, is a 1996-batch Bihar cadre IAS officer.
