Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday celebrated two years as Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha with a promise to continue fighting every battle – from the streets to Parliament.

Rahul Gandhi became the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha in June 2024, after the Congress formally communicated its decision to the Speaker of Parliament during the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha. This announcement came a day after the India Bloc approved his name.
This is Rahul Gandhi’s first constitutional/statutory parliamentary position since he entered electoral politics in 2004.
Rahul Gandhi shared key moments from his tenure so far as Leader of the Opposition through a Channel
“Be it fighting for NEET aspirants, exposing electoral fraud, or defending the Constitution, I have stood with you on every front, I stand with you today, and I always will,” Rahul Gandhi captioned the video, which included excerpts from his parliamentary speeches, 297 field visits, and mentioned three setbacks in politics, as well as focusing on the promise of fulfilling his duties.
“From the streets to Parliament, your trust is my greatest strength. The journey is long, but my resolve remains the same – I will continue to fight every battle for you,” the Congress leader said on Channel X.
In the newsletter accompanying the post, Gandhi highlighted the national student campaign that was launched from Kota, Rajasthan, with the aim of highlighting the crisis in India’s education system and protecting the future of youth.
He stressed that the initiative is not a political program, and drew attention to the challenges students face, including limited career options, intense competition and pressure, and the heavy financial burden on families. He said that only parents spend $1.3 lakh crore on NEET training, an amount equivalent to the total education budget of the Union government.
On the occasion of two years of his tenure as Leader of the Opposition, the bulletin stated that when Rahul Gandhi took over as Leader of the Opposition, he said that doing justice to the office meant raising the voice of the people and protecting the Constitution.
According to the newsletter, over the past two years he has spoken out in defense of democracy, social justice, economic opportunity and national interests for India. She also highlighted Rahul Gandhi’s campaign for caste census, raising the issue of alleged “vote theft”, and how he stood with students, farmers, workers and Bahujan communities.
The bulletin carried Rahul Gandhi’s pledge to continue promoting the “politics of love” and defend the Constitution in the coming years of his tenure.
Four pledges
Rahul Gandhi included four pledges in the newsletter – fight for social justice; Exposing “vote theft”; Listen to people and; Stand with India.
Finally, I remembered Rahul Gandhi’s newsletter when, speaking in Parliament, he said that the Prime Minister had harmed India’s interests vis-à-vis the US through the trade deal, hurting the country’s energy security and farmers.
Rahul Gandhi warned that India was heading towards an economic storm while the government remained unprepared.
The newsletter criticized Prime Minister Modi for focusing on propaganda rather than addressing the difficulties faced by ordinary families.
