Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday warned Congress spokesperson Pawan Kaira against taking action on allegations against his wife, Riniki Bhuiyan Sarma, alleging that Assam Police could trace people “even from… Patal (Underworld).”

Sarma said that in order to make allegations against his wife, the police will hunt down Khaira and ask him who provided him with the documents he used in the allegations. Sarma said the papers were fake.

Sarma also criticized Congress president Mallikarjun Karg for supporting the allegations without verification, saying: “Karg Gee “He’s getting old, and yet he talks like a madman.”

“Before making any allegation, he should have asked the foreign minister,” Himanta said of Karji.

Sarma’s statements come after allegations that his wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, holds three passports and owns undisclosed luxury properties.

Sarma claims that Rahul Gandhi gave the documents

The Assam CM also suspected that Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, had given the documents, referring to the papers shown by Pawan Khera to support their claims about Sarma’s wife.

“This issue will extend to Rahul Gandhi,” Sarma said.

He warned the Congress against trying to intimidate it, saying: “This is the state of Assam, and we have fought against the Islamic invasion 17 times,” in an apparently unrelated religious reference to the issue.

CM Sarma alleged that Pawan Khera “escaped” to Hyderabad from New Delhi, after Assam Police searched his residence in the national capital, amid the ongoing passport row.

The Congress chief says agencies are investigating the accusations

Earlier in the day, Mallikarjun Kharge spoke about the allegations, saying that all agencies come under the central government, which should investigate the accusations.

“They have already lodged an FIR against Khaira. Let them investigate the matter,” he said.

Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, Karji described Sarma as “the most corrupt” in India.

Sarma is “upset and desperate,” says Jairam Ramesh.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh also spoke about the allegations on Tuesday, describing the Assam Chief Minister as “disturbed, desperate and shaken” after an Assam Police team arrived at Pawan Khera’s Delhi residence on Tuesday.

“Deploying an entire army of police officials to arrest my colleague Pawan Khera for asking basic questions for the sake of public interest proves that the Assam Chief Minister is disturbed, desperate and disturbed,” he wrote in the post.

On Sunday, the Congress held press conferences, where Pawan Khera and Assam unit chief Gaurav Gogoi claimed that Sarma’s wife has passports from India, UAE and Egypt. They also claimed that she owns undisclosed properties in Dubai and a company in Wyoming, USA.

Sarma rejected the allegations, describing the documents shared by Khaira as “fabricated by artificial intelligence” and “fabricated images sourced from Pakistani social media groups.”
