The mother of Sahil Dhanishra, who was killed in a brutal SUV collision in Delhi’s Dwarka, said her son’s “sacrifice” was a lesson for everyone and appealed to parents, especially mothers, as she mourned the 23-year-old’s death.
Dhaneshra died at the scene after Scorpio collided with his Yamaha R15 motorcycle at around 11:50 am on February 3 near Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management in Sector 11. The person who was driving the car during the accident was 17-year-old Akshatra Singh, who has been arrested.

On February 4, the teenager was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to the observation home. On February 10, the minor was granted interim bail so that he could appear for the Class 10 board exams.

Danishra’s mother, Ina McCann, said her son’s death should serve as a warning to all parents. She urged mothers and fathers not to give car keys to underage children who are not even eligible to apply for a driving licence.
“Let my son’s sacrifice be a lesson to everyone. Secure your children’s future. If people do not learn the lesson now, more mothers will continue to lose their children. When many mothers lose their children at once, maybe people will understand then,” she told NDTV.
What is noteworthy is that Makan raised her son, her only child, alone. She told the media that she had done “a lot of work” after leaving her home with him. She said her only goal was to ensure that his education would never be affected.
“I had never seen anyone’s ashes before,” she said sadly. “And when I did, it ended up being my baby’s ashes.”

SUV crash in Delhi: What happened?
The accident took place around 11:50 am on February 3 near Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management in Sector 11. Police said the Scorpio’s car collided with an R15 Yamaha motorcycle, killing its rider Sahil Dhaneshra at the scene. It then collided with a parked Swift Dzire, injuring taxi driver Ajit Singh.
The driver was arrested at the spot and a case was registered under Sections 281 (rash driving), 106 (1) (negligence causing death) and 125 (A) (act endangering life).
On Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said the father of the minor driver has been booked under Section 199A (guardians or vehicle owners are liable when a juvenile (minor) commits a traffic offence) under the MV Act, 1988. “Initially, the boy lied about his age. Now, based on the findings, the boy’s father will be charged under the MV Act,” the DCP told HT.
On February 4, he appeared before the Juvenile Justice Board and was sent to an observation home. On February 10, the minor was granted interim bail for Class 10th board exams.
The teenager’s lawyer, Lal Singh Thakur, said the teenager was struggling to focus on his board exams and receiving threatening calls after the fatal SUV accident. He said that the level of “torture” had increased, and that the family was receiving phone calls reporting “threats” and “violations.”
