Vishwaguru’s “self-proclaimed, award-hungry stony silence” on Israel’s actions is a betrayal of India’s civilizational spirit and is simply “unreasonable”, the Congress said on Monday in a scathing attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The opposition party’s statement came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cited India’s support, in the face of US Vice President J.D. Vance’s statements that the United States is its only strong ally.
“Mr. Netanyahu is wrong. There is no doubt that Israel is an integral part of the Modini empire and Mr. Narendra Modi is blindly loyal to him. But millions of Indians condemn Israel’s genocide in Gaza that did not spare even children, its forced expulsion and displacement of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, its intense aerial bombardment of Iran that included targeted assassinations, and its brutal military offensive in southern Lebanon. All these are assaults on humanity itself,” the Congress leader said.
“Vishwaguru’s award-hungry silence on Israel’s actions is a betrayal of India’s spirit and civilizational values. It is simply unconscionable,” Ramesh asserted.
Ramesh said that receiving a certificate from Netanyahu is not a badge of honor, especially since he himself is isolated and has sparked frustration and anger even from a good friend of Prime Minister Modi in the White House itself, in a clear reference to US President Donald Trump.
Netanyahu told a Fox News Sunday briefing earlier that Israel has the support of many other countries, including a small country called India.
“We have other friends, like a little country called India, you know, with a population of 1.4 billion people, and oh boy, do we have tremendous support there,” Netanyahu said.
Last month, Vance said in a White House press conference that Israel must respect the US-Iranian peace talks.
In response to a question about reports that Israeli leaders are dissatisfied with the US-Iran agreement and criticize President Trump, Vance said: “If I were in the government of the Israeli government, I might not attack the only strong ally I have left anywhere in the entire world.”
Netanyahu said he receives a lot of support from India through Facebook.
“You know, I have this thing on Facebook, and I have overwhelming support there. And I probably have many others,” Netanyahu said, responding to Vance’s claim that Israel had no other allies.
