Congress MP KC Venugopal on Monday arrived at the airport in Thiruvananthapuram to welcome dignitaries who arrived for the swearing-in ceremony of chief minister-designate V D Sathisan, as the United Democratic Front (UDF) prepares to assume power in Kerala after a decade.

Speaking briefly to ANI, Venugopal said: “Everything is fine.”
Several senior Congress leaders and chief ministers from Congress-ruled states are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony scheduled to be held at 10 am at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy also arrived in Thiruvananthapuram to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
Congress leader Mallikarjun Karg, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and the chief ministers of Karnataka and Telangana will attend the swearing-in ceremony, Congress MP K Suresh said. He added that important decisions will be taken after the Cabinet meeting.
“Today we are celebrating our victory in Kerala. The VD Satheesan led government is taking oath at 10 am. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Chief Minister of Karnataka and Telangana will be there for the ceremony. The people of Kerala are here. Very important decisions will be taken after the Cabinet meeting after the swearing-in ceremony,” he said.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Shafi Parambil described the oath-taking day as important for both the Congress party and the people of the state.
“This is a great day for the Congress party and allies of the United Democratic Front. It is also a great day for the people of the state. We will fulfill all the promises we have made to our people,” Parambil said.
Earlier today, Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala confirmed that he will take over the home portfolio in the new government, and said that the government will implement the five guarantees announced by Rahul Gandhi during the Assembly election campaign.
The five guarantees include free bus travel for women, $1000 monthly assistance for girls attending university, and social welfare pensions $3000, $Oommen Chandy 25 lakh health insurance cover per family, and interest-free loans up to $5 lakh for small businesses.
Sathisan is set to take oath as Kerala Chief Minister along with his full cabinet, marking the return of the United Democratic Front to power after the end of the Left Democratic Front’s 10-year rule.
The 20-member cabinet includes senior Congress leaders Ramesh Chennithala, K Muralidharan and KPCC chief Sunny Joseph, along with Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leaders PK Kunhalikutty, PK Bashir, N Samsudin, KM Shaji and VE Abdul Ghafoor.
The other ministers in the cabinet are MNS Joseph, Shibu Baby John, Anoop Jacob, C P John, A P Anil Kumar, T Siddique, P C Vishnunate, RJ M John, Bindu Krishna, M Lijo, K Thulasi and OG Ganesh.

Sathisan also announced that senior Congress leader Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan will take over as the assembly’s president, while Shanimol Usman will be the assembly’s vice-president. MLA Apu John Joseph has been appointed Chief Minister.
The United Democratic Front won a landslide victory in the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, winning 102 seats in the 140-member House. The Congress Party emerged as the largest single party, winning 63 seats, while the International Islamic Federation won 22 seats. The Liberal Democratic Party won 35 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party was able to win three constituencies.
