The race for Kerala Chief Minister’s post appears to have narrowed down to two contenders, as Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, met several state leaders, including United Democratic Front leader Adoor Prakash and KPCC Disciplinary Committee Chairman Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan.

Most leaders are said to have supported this KC Venugopal as Kerala’s next CM. Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, V D Satheeshan, received the support of two of the 10 leaders, while one of them remained neutral.
According to sources, K Muralidharan and VM Sudheeran have supported Satyeshan, while the names of Venugopal’s supporters are yet to be confirmed. The name of the third contender, senior captain Ramesh Chennithala, appears to have emerged from the controversy.
In the meeting, Rahul Gandhi expressed concern over the promotions and shows of force by warring factions within the Kerala Congress.
The Congress-led United Democratic Front won 102 of the total 140 seats in the Kerala Assembly, while the outgoing LDF bagged 35 seats. The BJP ended up winning three seats.
